Swedish
Deep Tissue

As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish Massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. It involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. If you're looking to de-stress and relax, this is the massage for you!

Deep Tissue Massage is a specific type of massage therapy that mainly focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. The benefits of Deep Tissue Massage include releasing chronic muscle tension, lowering muscle spasms, treating anxiety, reducing arthritis symptoms, lowering blood pressure and improving recovery from injuries or a rigorous workout.

Lymphatic drainage has been known to improve circulation and reduce swelling. While the heart continuously pumps blood through the blood vessels, the lymphatic system relies on the movement of smooth muscles to transport fluid through the lymph vessels. This technique can help with healing after surgery, as it regenerates tissues to reduce scarring at surgical incision sites. Lymphatic drainage also reduces swelling and detoxifies the body, according to the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators.

Hot Stone

With the use of flat basalt stones that have been immersed in hot water and sometimes placed onto specific parts of the body, the localized heat and weight of the stones during a Hot Stone Massage warm and relax muscles, allowing the massage therapist to get deeper into the muscle fibers without the use of a more aggressive/firm pressure. During this specific type of massage, all of the techniques of a regular massage are still applied. However, our expert massage therapists incorporate the use of the hot stones for massage as well. For added skin benefits, ask for a Hot Salt Stone Massage!

Reiki

Reiki is a therapy often described as palm healing or hands-on-body healing in which a practitioner places hands lightly on or over a patient's body to facilitate the patient's process of healing. Reiki combines the Japanese and Chinese word-characters of "rei" (spiritual or supernatural) and "ki" (vital energy).  Reiki promotes healing by activating the relaxation response and helping the body to balance itself from a very deep level.
